Chronic Liver Disease Modelling and Biomarker Study (CLiMB)

Imperial College London
Date of Ethical Approval: June 2026
Project Identifier: SDE_LDN_PROJ_282

Project Overview

The project uses retrospective data, so it offers no immediate benefit to patients. Instead, it aims to improve understanding of chronic liver disease, support future research, and help NHS services plan and target care more effectively.

Public Benefit Statement

The project has academic and professional benefits because it will generate a reproducible research framework for studying chronic liver disease progression using de-identified routine health data. It will support publications, conference presentations, methodological learning in prediction modelling, and development of validated analytical frameworks and pipelines for future research. Organisationally, the work may help participating NHS and academic partners understand the feasibility, data quality and governance requirements for chronic liver disease research in a secure data environment.
