Mental Health

A regional population-based study of autism, ADHD, and mental health across the life course in England

NHS
Date of Ethical Approval: March 2026
Project Identifier: SDE_LDN_PROJ_239

Project Overview

This project will benefit patients by providing population-level information on how mental health, autism and ADHD services function in practice, including where delays, repeated assessments or discontinuities in care occur

Public Benefit Statement

Using de-identified routine data from across London, the study will characterise patterns of care over time, including referral, assessment, diagnosis, treatment and discharge. It will quantify waiting times at different stages, the number of contacts involved, and movement between settings. These findings are important because inefficiencies or poor coordination can result in repeated assessments, delayed initiation of treatment and prolonged unmet need.
